Fairmont Banff Springs Reviews

Have you ever stayed in a castle? If your answer is no. Let’s follow me going through this review about Fairmont Banff Springs. The stunning castle is where you can stay for nights to enjoy both the best things that can come to your life and the amazing nature around you.

First, Where is Fairmont Banff Springs?

Honestly, I didn’t about this castle before. My friend introduced me and took me there. So all I know is, first, Fairmont Baff Springs is located in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada. Secondly, it took me an hour to go by shuttle bus from Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, the place where we were before, to the village of this castle. And finally, perhaps you may want to try Google Maps and type the name ‘Fairmont Banff Springs’. You will know exactly the spot and even ways to go there.

About the Hotel

Fairmont Banff Springs was formerly known as Banff Springs Hotel, built first in 1888. It has gone through several stages of redevelopment and restructuring to become the latest building nowadays:

  • Canadian Pacific Railway opened the hotel in 1888. It had 100 rooms at the time.
  • In 1902, the building had gone through an expansion and renovation with 200 more rooms added.
  • By 1906, much of the hotel’s original structure has a proposal for replacement. A “Painter Tower” was completed in 1914.
  • A disaster in 1926 caused a big fire in the original building. It had to rebuild in 1928.
  • The Monarch of Canada visited the hotel in 1939 during their royal tour of Canada.
  • In an effort to free up the labor for the war, the hotel had to shut down from 1942 to 1945.
  • From 1968 to 1988, the hotel underwent some renovations including the winterization process, and one to prepare for the 1988 Winter Olympics.
  • In 2001, the hotel officially changed its name to Fairmont Banff Springs as a re-branding effort of its own company.

Interesting fact: At the time I visit the ‘castle’ – I love to call the hotel this way, I saw a plate with four diamonds hanging in the area of the receptionist. Meaningly, Fairmont Banff Springs records its name in the AAA Four Diamond Hotels Standard with its ‘distinctive fine dining, well-services amid upscale ambiance’. Only the top, worldwide-leveled businesses in hotels and restaurants achieve it.

Location

a part of Banff town
A part of Banff town.
A corner of Banff town
A corner of Banff town.

This is exactly what I want, and you will want it too. The hotel is just located in the back of the Banff area, much more convenient than Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. It’s not far from the center of the village where you can find a lot of stores and also local restaurants. Just about 10 minutes walk. Furthermore, the hotel is surrounded by the beautiful nature of Banff National Park. So don’t be extremely surprised when you think you are in heaven when opening your room’s windows.

Staff Service

I’m looking for something to criticize but then, I have to use the word ‘perfect’ to say this. They are friendly, knowledgable and always there if you have any problems. Especially, I always remember the moment when they gently upgrade my room to a nicer one with a super view of the mountain, forest, lake, etc.

Facilities

The hotel has everything you need. And it’s hard for me to list all the facilities there. I even couldn’t remember, see, or try them all. But I’m sure you will pretty much enjoy what they have, at the level of a AAA Four Diamond hotel.

They have two swimming pools with an indoor one for use in winter. A large gym. Many bars and restaurants. I particularly love sitting in their outdoor cafe, enjoying a drink while watching the beautiful scenery around. That’s a lovely experience!

Besides that, in the area, you can do many activities such as trekking, golf, skiing, cycling, horsing, etc. They also have a white BMW X5 to take you to the nearby Banff Gondola. Don’t forget to visit that place.

Cleanliness and Comfortable

The room that they upgraded for me.

I love anything they do. The room’s very clean with all things prepared carefully. I always check the bathroom initially when checking into a hotel room. And yes, I saw a jacuzzi there for me to relax. I loved that. Moreover, they used the hygiene stuff from Le Labo, excellent!

If you want me to say more about the room, I would mention the capsule coffee machine if you love the drink. Anyway, I repeat, it’s excellent!

Was It Worth My Money?

I would like to answer, YES! It was worth any pennies spent, especially when they upgraded my room. If you bring me to Banff town again, I will continue choosing ‘the castle’ without hesitation.

In brief, excellent, fantastic, premium, and phenomenal is what people say about the Fairmont Banff Springs, aka the castle in the Rocky Mountains after enjoying the services there. And you, what will you say? Let’s checking-in Fairmont Banff Springs, and tell me about your experience at the Castle of Rockies.
