It’s my all-time favorite site when I want to enjoy a cup of coffee. Cong is special, from the way its hostnames the cafe to the idealism Cong follows.

When entering Cong, you would definitely find out a very strange feeling that you might never have in any coffee shops before. It is the design Cong brings to its customers. Not just a fine coffee shop, it’s a whole the south of Vietnam in the 1900s. 

This concept really blew my mind the first time I’ve visited Cong. From the chairs, tables to lay drinks to a single picture on the walls, and the posters were all designed as propaganda. They are so true and make young people like me can not stop sticking eyes on these things.

Personally, Cong Ca Phe is an ideal place for people who wants to enjoy a cup of coffee in such a South Vietnam vibe! 

As for drinks, drinks at Cong are simple, they’re familiar and easy to find in Vietnam. The menu has coffee, of course, and other simple Vietnamese drinks like Cong’s doi moi smoothies, fresh juices, series of Cong’s tea, you name it. In my opinion, you should have a try of Bac Siu. An amazing version of cà phê that I can find nowhere in Saigon. 

Plus, Cong is one the front runner in reducing plastic trash by only serving drinks with steel straws and running an event called “tat den” – cut off power in every 5th day of months.

Là Việt Coffee

Another coffee shop for coffeeholic! La Viet is a newly growing brand among coffee shops in Saigon. It promotes an image of an authentic coffee – taster which professionally serves coffee in 3 styles: drip coffee, original coffee, and machine-made coffee.

In a term of concept, La Viet pursuits the industrial concept which is decorated with high ceiling, concrete floors, workspace chairs and tables, and a neutral color tone.

To me, La Viet is a modern coffee shop that draws youngsters’ attention nowadays. It not only a good place to enjoy coffee in different ways but also a place for working.

Okkio Caffe

Definitely, “WOW” is the word you will say of Okkio for the first time visiting it. This coffee shop is located right in the hub of the city. The first impression I experienced at Okkio is how dizzy my head takes after going through 2 floors to get to the coffee shop. However, it’s worth 100% because the decoration of Okkio is eye-catching. By the way, I’m talking about the Okkio at Nguyen Van Trang street. And in fact, they totally have 3 coffee shops in Saigon.

With half of old, somehow shabby brick, half of the plain cement tiles on walls. Okkio building brings a gentle old vibe to people who want to look at Saigon from the high horizon.

About the menu, Okkio doesn’t have many drinks. It only serves basic coffee, detox juice, so on. However, a cup of coffee in Okkio is worth any pence! I love watching servers making drinks at the coffee bar. The smell that comes from each coffee roasters is soothing and so relaxing!

In a word, Okkio Caffe is a good place for those who want to immerse themselves in coffee smell, peacefulness, and chill…

Little Ha Noi Egg Coffee

If you are looking for a little bit of Hanoi vibe in hubbub Saigon, Little Ha Noi Egg Coffee is your answer.

Right from its name, this little coffee shop attracts customers by its unique design. Unlike many modern coffee shops that follow the architecture of the West. Little Hanoi Egg Coffee draws its customers by its elegant, charming, and vintage vibe of the capital city. Yes, being one of the beautiful coffee shops in Saigon, but in Hanoi style. The main color of the coffee shop gets its antique yellow-brown, which is a popular color we’ve seen in any old architectures of Ha Noi.

Also, to make the atmosphere to be more antique and familiar to Hanoi, the owner has set up tables, chairs, and other decorations so the coffee shop can become more Hanoi right in hustle and bustle of Saigon.

As the name of the cafe, Little Hanoi is the best place for those who want to spend time sipping coffee while reflecting on things that happened throughout the week. A’dor Cafe

“What? I thought it was a book store!” – that was what my friend said about A’dor cafe at the first glance, haha. Indeed, the open space and modern design of the coffee shop makes it really comfortable to enjoy the drink. They apply the glass wall so you can see it bigger than the actual area. I especially love its decoration that I just want to have a cafe like that.

Located in one of the expensive apartments in the city, hence, the price is quite expensive compared to the average. Moreover, it’s definitely not a place for studying or working, but more of a destination that you can take photos and share on social media. Trust me, people will find your pics impressive and say ‘wow’!

I’m not a drink critic, or at least I don’t believe I’m capable, so I don’t say about the quality of the drink here to you. Just, in my opinion, it’s acceptable but a little expensive, and the menu isn’t long with many choices. Anyway, I will leave that part for you to evaluate.

Cô Ba Sài Gòn

Having the same name as a famous movie – The Tailor, in the Vietnamese filming industry. Co Ba Sai Gon quickly becomes a trendy site for people who want to meet up with their friends outdoor.

When entering Co Ba Sai Gon, you’ll say wow because of the design this cafe has set up. They are efforts to maintain the intactness of Saigon’s vibe in the 1900s. From space to decoratives, every single thing represents a period that passed but still remains memories of old Saigonese.

Interestingly, Co Ba Sai Gon is located in the hub of the city, so you can enjoy a coffee while looking at how busy the city is from a higher level.

Address: 4 – 6 Dong Khoi street, Ben Nghe ward, dist 1, HCMC. But they have one shop on the 1st floor, and one on the rooftop.

Chidori – Coffee in Bed

Chidori or coffee in bed is a brand new coffee shop in Saigon these days. The style of drinking coffee right in the bed originally came from Chidori’s host. It is where people can call as the second home to release stress or simply, just want to escape from the hustle and bustle of life.

Chidori in Japanese means Strelitzia reginae bird – a kind of bird that stands for happiness, peacefulness, and preservable. By that means, the host of this coffee shop wants to bring as much sanity as they can to make customers enjoy their quality time.

Unlike other cafes, Chidori sells its products in combos. They are Chilling out, Feeling home, and Staycation with 100k, 140k, 250k, respectively. If you are looking for a new concept of cafe, Chidori is definitely one of your must-visited coffee shops in Saigon!

Open Coffee

I was so impressed by the design of this cafe that I forgot to take pics of my cup of coffee. Yes, Open Coffee, as its name, has a really open space. They even don’t have the entrance door but leave the ACs run all the time. Anyway, I pretty like the style of this cafe. And definitely, it’s a good choice among the coffee shops in Saigon for studying, working, or business conversations.

Located in the central of Ho Chi Minh City, Open Coffee has many customers most of the time. Nevertheless, many of them, as I noticed, come to work or study, so it isn’t quite noisy. Of course, you can find other cafes around Saigon for a more silent space.

Perhaps I shouldn’t say in-depth about the drinks here. But I see it’s ok for me. And the price is quite affordable to many customers, at an acceptable rate compared to many other places. Yet, as in my list of travel quotes “Don’t listen to what they say, go see.” – Chinese Proverb, it’s always ‘open’ there for you to come.

Thinker and Dreamer

Located on 42 Nguyen Hue, district 1, where is called the apartment of cafes in Saigon. Thinker and Dreamer draw people’s attention as soon as it went to open, especially younger.

About the concept, Thinker and Dreamer has followed the basic concept with white is chosen to be the main tone. Meanwhile, the black comes from tables and chairs have complemented the total ambiance of the cafe.

In addition, Thinker and Dreamer is like its name, this is where you can mull over and lose your mind frittering any corner of the place. Just you and the view of Saigon!

Price range: VND 50,000 – 100,000.

Góc

A newly opened cafe that I had a chance to visit. Exactly as the name Góc, meaning ‘Corner’ in English, this coffee shop is located in a corner of the city’s heart area. It doesn’t have a big space, but outstanding with the main orange color. Nevertheless, you can sit on the short chairs outside the cafe to enjoy both the drink and the atmosphere of the financial area.

About the menu, it’s enough with choices of coffee, tea, etc. for customers. Also, the price is fine for the quality of drinks in this area. I don’t say it’s so good that you must come to try. Evenly, I found out it was a bit ridiculous that they just put a little coffee in my big glass. Nonetheless, you can spend the morning time here to see the road, the people of Saigon, or discussing businesses with partners.
