Standing in front of Parliament Hill felt like stepping into another era 🇨🇦

During our Ottawa stop, one place completely captured our attention, Parliament Hill.

The architecture here is incredible. Every tower, clock, stone carving, and rooftop detail feels straight out of Europe, yet it sits right in the heart of Canada’s capital city.

What surprised us most was how peaceful the atmosphere felt despite being one of the country’s most important landmarks. Families were relaxing on the lawn, tourists were admiring the buildings, and everywhere we looked there were stunning Gothic details hidden in the architecture.

The iconic Peace Tower honestly looks even more impressive in person, especially under Ottawa’s moody autumn skies.

If you’re planning a trip to Canada, this is one of those places that truly deserves a spot on your itinerary.

A quick stop in Ottawa became one of our favorite family travel surprises 🇨🇦

Driving back from Montreal to Richmond Hill, we decided to spend a half-day exploring Ottawa, and it completely exceeded expectations.

Canada’s capital felt elegant, walkable, peaceful, and incredibly family-friendly. In just a few hours, we explored Parliament Hill, saw the Rideau Canal Locks, wandered through colorful fall parks, visited the giant Maman spider sculpture, and enjoyed the energy of ByWard Market.

What surprised us most was how easy Ottawa felt with kids. Attractions are close together, there are plenty of open spaces, and the city has a calm pace that makes family travel enjoyable.

If you’re planning an Ontario road trip or looking for a Canadian city break, Ottawa deserves a spot on your list.

After exploring the historic streets of Old Montreal, we decided to drive to a completely different kind of spot, something fun, iconic, and a little unexpected.

That’s how we ended up at Gibeau Orange Julep, one of the most recognizable roadside attractions in Montreal.

You really can’t miss it.
A giant orange-shaped building sitting right by the road, looking like something out of a retro postcard.

Of course, we had to try their famous orange julep drink, a creamy, refreshing orange beverage that’s been a local favorite for decades.
And yes, we paired it with a classic hotdog, simple, but somehow it just fits perfectly here.

What makes this place special isn’t just the food.
It’s the whole vibe: Nostalgic roadside stop, Local Montreal tradition, and Casual, family-friendly atmosphere.

It’s a completely different side of Montreal compared to Old Montreal, and that’s exactly what makes the city so interesting.

From historic streets to quirky landmarks, Montreal keeps surprising you in the best way.

After visiting Notre-Dame Basilica, we continued walking and found ourselves at one of the most beautiful areas in the city, Place Jacques-Cartier in Old Montreal.

This corner, where Rue Saint-Paul East meets Place Jacques-Cartier, is full of life.
Historic buildings, cobblestone streets, and colorful terraces make it feel like you’re walking through a European town, right in Canada.

One of the highlights here is Jardin Nelson, a charming restaurant with flowers everywhere and one of the most photogenic terraces in Old Montreal. Even if you don’t stop to eat, it’s worth slowing down and just taking it all in.

For us, this wasn’t about checking a landmark off a list.
It was about walking, observing, and letting the city unfold naturally.

Old Montreal is one of those places where the best moments aren’t planned, they just happen as you explore.
