10. Annapurna

It is the tenth-highest mountain in the world. Actually, Annapurna is the name given to a series of peaks. The highest is called Annapurna I, with a height of 8,091m. The peaks in the Annapurna range are among the most dangerous to climb. In fact, they have a mortality rate of about 40%. The Annapurna area has six major peaks, Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna II (7,937m), Annapurna III (7,555m), Annapurna IV (7,525m), Gangapurna (7,455m), and Annapurna South (7,219m). Pakistan has the ninth highest mountain in the world, the 26,660 feet (8,126m) tall Nanga Parbat. Especially, it was well-known as the “Killer Mountain” because of its high fatality rate until the first half of the twentieth century. 7. Dhaulagiri

This 8,167m high mountain is in the north-central of Nepal. It is a very beautiful mountain. In fact, the name Dhaulagiri comes from Sanskrit where Dhawala means “Dazzling, White Beautiful” and Giri means “Mountain”.

The normal climbing route of Dhaulagiri is the Northeastern ridge. Dhaulagiri was first conquered by Austrian, Swiss, German, and Nepalese explorers on May 13, 1960. Also, Dhaulagiri is famous for having the best view towards the Annapurna road, which I just 34 km away. Furthermore, there is Kali Gandaki Gorge, one of the deepest gorges in the world.

Kanchenjunga is known to have a climbing fatality rate of up to 22%. That resulted from poor environmental conditions and often strong avalanches. Joe Brown and George Band of the 1955 British Kangchenjunga expedition were the first climbers to ascend the summit on May 25, 1955.

2. K2

K2 is the second-highest mountain on Earth, after Mount Everest. K2 is located in Pakistan in the Karakoram range of the Himalayas. There are many peaks along with the Karakoram range. Yet, K2 is the highest peak of the Karakoram range and also the highest peak in Pakistan.
