Get Lost in Melaleuca Forest

Once in a while, a quick trip is necessary for me to get away from my crowded and polluted home city. Fortunately, I heard of the beautiful Melaleuca forest, with an exclusive 5km ‘Road of Love’ running through the forest as it’s only existed in a fairy-tail. With our wanderlust spirit, me and my friends decided to check this extraordinary woodland.

How I Got to The Melaleuca Forest

Differently from the Tra Su Melaleuca Forest in An Giang, this one locates in Tan Lap, Long An. It took us about 2.5 to 3 hours going by motorbike from Ho Chi Minh City to the destination. Another way you can go is through highway 1 to Tan Lap, Long An, then turn right onto route 62 to Moc Hoa. From there, you can ask the locals the way to the Tan Lap floating village.

It’s ideal to start the trip at 6 a.m. When we went, the weather was awfully sunny and hot at noon that you could see the gravel sizzling. We stopped in a restaurant somewhere in the way to have breakfast. Because it’s going to be a long day, it’s better healthy to stay well-fed and hydrated during the trip. Making sure to not stop and eat for so long, because there’s a whole adventure waiting for you outside the walls of the restaurant!

Let’s Discover the Place!

To give a little information about the wooded land, Melaleuca forest is a reserved area which is invested 100billion VND to improve tourism of the province. The ticket for the tour is 50k/person. You will be ridden on a stream by the canoe that takes you deep into the forest.

The first thing you notice is a 38m tower available for tourists to climb on. As a result for your effort, you will have an amazing view of the entire Tan Lap Melaleuca forest. Also, they sell varied kinds of drink at the entrance. Hence, if you forget to bring your water, all I can say is, stay hydrated and buy some! On the 5km road within the forest, there is beautiful scenery. And it felt as if you were walking through a forest from a storybook… and a storybook always has pictures. So for anyone that comes and visits, take pictures of the aesthetic scenery and don’t worry, no one will regret this decision!

Hello Khoi Nguyen how to get there by bus? Thank u for the info

    • khoinguyen

      Hi jonairepublica,
I suggest you rent a motorbike from HCMC if you stay there, and follow the direction I said in the post or use Google Map to go to the forest. It is the best way as you can see many things while riding and can go directly to the place. Buses cannot take you there.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask me 😁

Thank you for your reply. Because when i saw from google maps, it takes 6 hours from ho chi minh! I cant drive that long hehehe. Can you share the exact address? maybe i got the wrong address. thank you :))))

      • khoinguyen

It doesn’t have an exact address.
You can copy this key words “rừng tràm Long An” and paste it on the destination. Choose Ho Chi Minh City as starting point.
It should be between 2.30 – 3 hours for the way.
If you still cannot find out let me know I will find another way 😁
