Comfort Inn Laval Review: A Budget-Friendly Stay Near Montreal
Finding affordable accommodation near Montreal can be difficult, especially when traveling with kids and renting a car for a family road trip. That’s exactly why we booked this Comfort Inn Laval review-worthy stay instead of choosing a hotel in downtown Montreal. With free parking, included breakfast, and rates starting at around CAD $136 per night, it looked like a practical and budget-friendly option for our 2-night stay in October 2025.
After driving from Ontario to Quebec with our family, we mainly wanted a place that was clean, comfortable, and convenient for exploring Montreal by car. During our stay, we found that the hotel offered spacious rooms, comfortable beds, and an easy 30-minute drive to major attractions around Montreal, including the area near Notre-Dame Basilica. However, there was also one major downside that made traveling with kids and luggage much less convenient than we expected.
In this honest Comfort Inn Laval review, I’ll share what we liked, what we didn’t like, and whether this budget hotel near Montreal is actually worth booking for road trippers, couples, and budget travelers.
Why We Chose Comfort Inn Laval Instead of Staying in Downtown Montreal
Lower Hotel Prices Compared to Downtown Montreal
For our family road trip to Montreal in October 2025, we decided to stay outside the city center instead of booking a hotel downtown. Hotels in central Montreal were noticeably more expensive during our travel dates, especially since our group included 4 adults and 4 kids and required two rooms.
During our search for an affordable hotel near Montreal, Comfort Inn Laval stood out because of its much lower price compared to many downtown options. At around CAD $136 per night, it felt like a practical and budget-friendly choice for a short stay near Montreal.
Free Parking Made Our Road Trip Easier
Another major reason we booked this hotel for our Comfort Inn Laval review was the free parking. Since we rented a car and planned to drive around Montreal during the trip, staying somewhere with easy parking made the entire experience much more convenient.
Parking in downtown Montreal can sometimes be expensive and stressful, especially for families traveling with lots of luggage and kids. Staying in Laval allowed us to avoid those extra parking costs while still being close enough to explore the city comfortably.
A Convenient Base for Exploring Montreal by Car
During our stay, we mainly explored the area around Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal and other parts of the city by car. The drive from the hotel into Montreal took around 30 minutes, depending on traffic, which felt very manageable for us.
In this Comfort Inn Laval review, one thing we genuinely appreciated was how convenient the location felt for road trippers and travelers using rental cars. If you’re planning a similar trip from Ontario or elsewhere in Canada, Laval can be a practical alternative to staying directly downtown.

Location: Is Comfort Inn Laval a Good Base for Exploring Montreal?
About 30 Minutes From Downtown Montreal
Comfort Inn Laval is located in Laval, just outside Montreal, with convenient access to major roads and highways connecting to the city. For travelers driving into Montreal, the location felt easier and less hectic compared to staying in the downtown core.
Most of our drives into Montreal took around 30 minutes, which was completely reasonable considering the lower hotel rates and free parking included with the stay.

Restaurants and Shops Nearby
One thing we noticed during our Comfort Inn Laval review stay was that there were plenty of nearby restaurants, stores, and services around the hotel area. This made it easy to grab quick meals, snacks, or travel essentials without driving too far.
For families and road trippers, having these conveniences nearby definitely helped make the stay more comfortable.
Better for Drivers Than Public Transit Travelers
In my opinion, Comfort Inn Laval works best for travelers with rental cars or people doing road trips around Quebec and Ontario. If your goal is to stay within walking distance of Montreal attractions or mainly rely on public transportation, staying downtown would probably be more convenient.
However, based on our overall Comfort Inn Laval review experience, this location works very well for:
- Road trippers
- Budget travelers
- Couples
Check-In Experience and First Impressions
Fast and Easy Check-In

After a long drive to Quebec, we were happy that the check-in process at Comfort Inn Laval was quick and straightforward. The staff we interacted with were friendly, and getting our rooms didn’t take long.
A Simple but Practical Budget Hotel

The hotel itself felt simple and practical rather than luxurious or modern. Some parts of the property, especially the hallways and common areas, looked slightly dated, but everything still appeared clean and reasonably maintained overall.
During our Comfort Inn Laval review stay, our first impression was that the hotel focused mainly on functionality and affordability instead of upscale design or premium facilities, which honestly matched our expectations for a budget hotel near Montreal.
Room Review: Clean, Comfortable, and Practical for Short Stays
Spacious Enough for Our Family Trip
Since we were traveling with 4 adults and 4 kids, we booked two rooms next to each other. One feature we really appreciated during our Comfort Inn Laval review experience was the connecting door between the rooms.
The connecting rooms at Comfort Inn Laval made the stay much more convenient for our family setup because we could move easily between both rooms while still having enough space for everyone to relax comfortably after long days exploring Montreal.
For larger families or groups traveling together, this adjoining room setup can definitely be a useful feature.
Comfortable Beds and Clean Rooms

The rooms themselves were simple but clean and comfortable. While the decor was fairly basic and not particularly modern, everything felt well-maintained during our stay, which is one of the most important things for family travel.
One positive surprise from our Comfort Inn Laval review was that the beds were genuinely comfortable, and we had enough room for luggage and family belongings without feeling too cramped.
Quiet Enough for Sleeping
Overall, the hotel was fairly quiet at night, and we slept well during our stay. We occasionally heard noise from the hallway, especially when children were running around, but it wasn’t a major issue once things became quieter later in the evening.
Basic Amenities for a Short Stay
The AC
The air conditioning worked reasonably well, although it was slightly noisy at times. The room amenities were basic overall, but they were completely adequate for a short road trip stay near Montreal.
The Kettle
One small inconvenience we noticed during our Comfort Inn Laval review was the lack of a kettle inside the room. As someone who enjoys making Vietnamese-style coffee in the morning, I usually like having easy access to hot water during hotel stays. Instead, the hotel provided a hot water machine near the reception area downstairs.
While this may not matter to many travelers, it was slightly inconvenient for us since our room was located farther away on the upper floor. It’s a minor detail overall, but something coffee or tea drinkers may want to know before booking.
Anyway, this isn’t a luxury hotel experience, but for travelers mainly looking for:
- Clean rooms,
- Comfortable beds,
- Practical accommodations,
- Affordable pricing.
Comfort Inn Laval offers decent value for the price.
Bathroom Review: Clean and Functional Setup

The bathroom at Comfort Inn Laval was clean, practical, and functional. Everything appeared well-maintained during our stay, and we didn’t experience any cleanliness or maintenance issues.
Like the room itself, the bathroom focused more on practicality than luxury, but it worked perfectly fine for a short family stay near Montreal.
Breakfast at Comfort Inn Laval
Simple Included Breakfast
One useful perk during our Comfort Inn Laval review stay was the included breakfast. While the breakfast selection was fairly limited compared to larger hotels, it was still convenient before heading out to explore Montreal each morning.

A Convenient Start Before Exploring Montreal
The breakfast area also wasn’t too crowded during our stay, which made mornings feel calmer and easier for our family.
If you’re expecting a large buffet with many hot food options, you may find the breakfast somewhat basic. However, for a budget-friendly hotel near Montreal, having breakfast included still adds good overall value to the stay.
The Biggest Downside: No Elevator
Carrying Luggage Upstairs Was Difficult for Families
The biggest negative point in this Comfort Inn Laval review was definitely the lack of elevators.
We stayed on the second floor, and carrying luggage, kids’ belongings, snacks, and travel supplies upstairs after a long drive quickly became frustrating. Traveling with 4 adults and 4 kids naturally meant we had a lot of bags and family items, so using the staircase multiple times during the trip was not very convenient.
For solo travelers or couples with lighter luggage, this may not be a major issue. However, for families with young children or travelers with mobility concerns, the lack of elevators is something important to consider before booking.
This was honestly the one feature that impacted our experience the most during the stay.
Who Is Comfort Inn Laval Best For?
Best for Road Trippers and Budget Travelers
Based on our overall Comfort Inn Laval review experience, this hotel works best for:
- Road trippers,
- Couples,
- Budget travelers,
- Travelers renting a car,
- Short stays near Montreal.
The affordable rates, free parking, and easy driving access to Montreal make it a practical option for travelers who don’t mind staying outside the city center.
Not Ideal for Travelers With Mobility Concerns
On the other hand, Comfort Inn Laval may not be the best fit for:
- Luxury travelers,
- People want modern hotel facilities,
- Travelers with mobility concerns,
- Families carrying excessive luggage upstairs.
For us, the hotel still served its purpose well as a simple and affordable base for exploring Montreal during our family road trip.

I’d also recommend booking Comfort Inn Laval early during busy travel periods and weekends, since budget-friendly hotels near Montreal can fill up quickly.
Final Verdict: Is Comfort Inn Laval Worth It?
Comfort Inn Laval may not be the most modern or luxurious hotel near Montreal, but for our family road trip, it worked well as a clean, affordable, and convenient place to stay outside the city center. The free parking, comfortable beds, and reasonable price made it a practical choice for travelers exploring Montreal by car, especially compared to the much higher hotel prices downtown.
The biggest drawback was definitely the lack of elevators. Carrying luggage, bags, and kids’ belongings up the stairs after a long drive was not ideal, especially when staying on the upper floor. The included breakfast was also fairly basic, though still convenient before heading out for the day.
Overall, I’d recommend Comfort Inn Laval mainly for road trippers, couples, and budget travelers looking for a simple short stay near Montreal with easy parking and decent comfort. While I’d probably try a different hotel on my next visit just to experience other options, I still think this hotel offers reasonable value for the price we paid.
