A Superior Guide to Travel Quy Nhon City

My next destination after Da Nang, Hoi An in the itinerary ‘14 Days Travel from North to Central Vietnam‘ was Quy Nhon city. Since that, I have come back to the place once to find the missing gems that I missed for the first time been there. Quy Nhon city still lived slowly and kept its quiet, and peaceful. Nevertheless, the second time we met, it showed me a hiding corner that wasn’t for everyone to explore.

Moving to Quy Nhon City

You can go to Quy Nhon City by different means of transportation:

By Airplane

35km away from Quy Nhon city, there is the Phu Cat Airport which belonged to Binh Dinh province. The airport is currently connected to only 2 domestic airports in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Therefore, visitors do not have so many choices coming to Quy Nhon by plane. Also, tourists have to take a taxi, which takes nearly an hour for 320,000VND, or the airport’s bus, a ticket price of 50,000VND, to go to the city. However, this is a good choice to save time.

By Train

There is Dieu Tri railway station 10km far from Quy Nhon City. Every day there are trains, starting from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, crossing Binh Dinh province. Visitors can come to the stations at their locations to buy tickets to Dieu Tri station. 2 train options for choice: the Reunification Express trains, or the luxury Golden Trains.

By Bus

A lot of sleeper-bus businesses join in the transportation system of Vietnam and they run across the provinces. From any location, you can easily find a sleeper bus to go to Quy Nhon City (the route may cross different provinces). Prices may depend on the distances to the destination.

Sleeper buses also have inverse directions from Quy Nhon to other provinces. If you want to travel from Quy Nhon to Hoi An or Danang (or any province), you can check for a ticket at Son Tung Transportation. I used them on the way from Danang to Quy Nhon on my 14 days trip, good service.

Quy Nhon Weather – Best Time to Travel

QUI NHƠN WEATHER

Quy Nhon city has its separated 2-season, the dry season from Mar to Sep, and the rainy season from Oct to Feb next year. The average temperature is 28°C.

The city isn’t affected by floods or storms so visitors can come here whenever in the year. However, the best time to travel to Quy Nhon is in Spring from Feb to Apr, and in Autumn from Aug to Sep; the weather is cool with sunlight, and zephyr which would be great for any activities of wandering and exploring.

Quy Nhon Attractions & Things to Do

The Islands

Quy Nhon city is surrounded by a lot of beautiful islands. Someones are worthy to stay for days so visitors can enjoy the whole nature, atmosphere, and environment in the islands. However, not every island is open for all travelers, the few are restricted due to military purposes.

– Ky Co Island

Some people say it’s the ‘Maldives’ of Quy Nhon. One Vietnamese News even calls it heaven on Earth.

The island is 25km away from the city and tourists have to come there by boat. Ky Co island isn’t exploited for tourism so much, hence it can keep the natural and wild landscape. There is the beach’s fine sand for you to enjoy the extraordinary landscape while lying down and sunbathing. Also, don’t forget the good quality beach umbrella to make your camping at the beach more pleasurable.

– Cu Lao Xanh Island

The hidden gem that I found last time I came to Quy Nhon City. Thanks to a local friend, I had a chance to step onto the island.

Because of a restriction for military purposes, foreigners are not allowed to enter the island. Tourism is not so developed in Cu Lao Xanh. Hence, the island can keep it beautiful with corners of nature and wild.

The Beaches

Quy Nhon city has its own beautiful beach. Furthermore, there are also many beaches around the city such as Kho (Dry), Trung (Egg) (or the Queen), Dai (Big), Bang Beach, etc., and the one that I like most is Xep Beach.

– Xep Beach

Xep Beach is 13km away from Quy Nhon city. The beach is always the top destination for Vietnamese and foreign backpackers and travelers. It is very beautiful, surrounded by some strange-shaped rocks that make it look like Mars, or somewhere that is not Earth.

At Xep Beach, there is a well-known homestay Life’s a Beach. The homestay is a ‘hot’ destination for all Vietnamese and foreign backpackers. With its good design, friendly environment, and affordable price, the homestay welcomes all travelers to come to enjoy their wanderlust.

The Nightlife

The night at Quy Nhon is not as vibrant as in Ho Chi Minh City. However, Quy Nhon city has enough spots for anyone to enjoy the night. I and my friends love to go to the coffee shops at the city’s beach, or sometimes we will find a place for some beer, and alcohol. On the road along the beach, you can easily find a lot of things to spend the night. If you are looking for a rooftop cafe, have a look at Saigon Quy Nhon Hotel.

I and my friends usually spend our night time at this cafe.

The Foods

This is the best thing I love every time I travel to Quy Nhon. Anytime I come to the city, I always try my best to enjoy all the food here. Foods at Quy Nhon city are delicious, diverse, and especially it’s cheap. Have you ever imagined having a dinner for 5 people cost about $3? Yes, you can think of that when going to Quy Nhon. Let me show the series of Quy Nhon foods that I have put in my stomach:

Where to Stay at Quy Nhon City?

Let me show some of the hotels, resorts, and hostels that I know or stayed in:

Hostels for Backpackers

Hostels usually have a cheaper price. And ideal for anyone who just needs a comfortable bed to sleep a good night. If you are a true wanderer and spend your whole day exploring all the corners, check this list out:

John & Paul could be the best for solo travelers. I did not stay at the place, but many friends recommended this hostel to me. So I want to introduce it also.

Life’s a Beach, the hot ‘spot’ at Xep Beach. As I mentioned above, it’s an ideal place for backpackers, except it’s a bit far from the center of Quy Nhon City.

Son Tiem Homestay, the one that I stayed for a night on Cu Lao Xanh island. I forgot the number to contact the owner but found a number on its Facebook, 097 419 99 94. Hopefully, it’s the owner. There are some people who try to help him as he is a non-tech guy. He only has the visit card and phone number at the time I visited so I’m not sure if the founded website or Facebook page on the Internet belongs to him. Anyway, Mr. Son, the homestay owner, is a funny and friendly guy. If you stay at his house, he will take you around the island showing you everything and telling a lot of stories. In case you can’t speak Vietnamese, try finding someone who can help you book at the homestay.

Hotels and Resorts

If you aren’t the style to spend the whole day wandering around but love to have a place to relax and enjoy your spare time, this may be the list for you:

Saigon Quy Nhon Hotel, located in the city center, the hotel has every tourist’s needs. There are a swimming pool, bar, different kinds of rooms and bed sizes, and a rooftop cafe. It’s great to spend the night at the coffee shop looking at the city.

FLC Luxury Resort and FLC Luxury Hotel Quy Nhon are in the same complex area. With the standard of 5 stars, no need to say what they can provide. There are outdoor and private swimming pools, golf clubs, bars, and also a private beach, etc. Everything a customer need, there it is. Of course, it goes at a high price per night stay. If you are in need of ultimate relaxation, it is worth every penny.
