Villa Las Estrellas is one of two towns in Antarctica. This very remote place, with less than 100 people, was used as a research station. However, this polar Chilean town still has social facilities such as public schools, churches, air bases, post offices, and gyms. From Ushuaia in Argentina, it takes you a 2-day boat ride to get to Villa Las Estrellas.

Tristan da Cunha

Located in the South Atlantic Ocean, Tristan da Cunha is actually on a volcanic island. The island is more than 2,700km from the nearest mainland Cape Town, South Africa. Currently, Tristan da Cunha is home to more than 250 people. They have a dialect but English is also used here.

Siwa Oasis is one of the most remote destinations in the world. Yet, it’s also a unique place to explore. It’s between the Qattara Depression and the western deserts of Egypt. Due to its location in the desert, this oasis is difficult to access and little known. However, Siwa Oasis is a city of about 33,000 inhabitants. They have learned to adapt to the desert and have their own language and culture. When coming to Egypt, you can take a 5-hour bus ride to visit this oasis. Otherwise, there are tours to Siwa Oasis from Cairo that you can easily book.

Part of British overseas territory, Pitcairn Island’s location is about 5,310km from New Zealand. The island has a low population. Nowadays, there are no flights to Pitcairn. As a result, you must take a 32-hour boat ride to visit the island.

Exceptionally, Ittoqqortoormiit is famous for its wildlife populations such as arctic foxes, seals, polar bears, and walruses. You can visit this hidden paradise of Greenland by helicopter.
